Haha, This is a swiss-cheesed airbox on a mk2 jetta.

I did this to mine, and it is awesome, unless it is -42C and you are flying down the freeway for your morning commute. You see the first thing all that cold air hits is the butterfly in the throttle body - and when it freezes solid you get a little 8v that loves to rev right up to the limit and won’t come down.

I managed to steer it right into the garage at my dub shop, where they laughed at my expense and then sold me a used airbox. After it had thawed out I picked it up and all was good.

So every winter when I swapped tires I also swapped airboxes.

Hahaha. I just had the airbox and the plumbing off and there was water everywhere coz I drove through a snow storm.

At least your box has a bit of the back wall, my current CAI has none of that shit!

The back surface over there that you dont see , its all open :)

I also had cams, kn filter, adj cam gear, super short shifter..

it was awesome.
